Nice spot. Very helpful folks at dock office and docks. Good access to restaurants, coffee shop, brewery in Portsmouth. Definitely see some big ships go by.

-Well-located with clean bathrooms but...
-We had booked on Dockwa, confirmed, and I even got the notice of charge to my credit card the morning of arrival and yet when we got there, the only person on duty said he wasn't expecting us
-We radioed, pulled up to the fuel dock, and it took a very long time for someone to show up. He said he had a bad back so he couldn't do anything such as catch lines or even pull out the gas hose. And said there was no one else there but was trying to call someone. We finally figured out how to get docked and we had to pull out the gas hose ourselves, Then the gas pump timed out after a minute. He walked (sauntered) back up to the office to turn it back on. Finally, two other people showed up and helped but the gas pump again timed out after a minute. We gave up and asked to go to our slip.
-The finger pier toward the end in the fairway was extremely unsteady - it's dangerous.

Not a bad marina, but they did park me in a slip with 30 amps only and I had to run a longer extension across the dock to a 50 amp on the other side. They were also very understaffed with just one person on duty for the whole Marina who ran out and helped us dock then had to run back to the office. And there is really nothing in Portsmouth, but the ferry to Norfolk is pretty easy and inexpensive.

Nice floating docks, conveniently located, well protected from surge and wakes of passing commercial traffic. Nice clean showers and laundry. But there was no fresh water available, even from a frost free tap anywhere. Also, inexplicably, they have the voltage on the pylons cranked up to over 130v. My battery charger faults and shuts down and such a high, non-standard voltage. It’s a marina choice to do this, because the voltage in the nice showers was standard 120v.
Marina Response:
Hi Jonathan
Thank you for your stay and comments. We are at the mercy of weather. As the marina is completely over water conventional frost freeze is not avail. We do maintain water avail from several locations on the face dock and our store area.
All of our marinas in market maintain water avail at all times and this is in direct contrast to many others that turn water off for months in winter. Please let me know if you would like to talk more on either item as well. The power I am happy to speak on privately to learn for future boaters ahead you may have encountered and we have not had a prior issue on this.

Great staff and location. Easy access to local amenities and to Norfolk by transit. The cleanest/best shower facilities we have come across so far. Good laundry facilities.

Very good location, not as busy as other marinas in the area. Very friendly staff. They could time their bathroom cleanings better though. They are often unavailable during peak need period in the mornings. Very clean though!

Great Stop. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The restrooms/showers are very clean with a laundry facility ($3/load). Easy access to the Portsmouth downtown area and the water taxi over to the waterside area. We stayed for 10 nights. Recommended stop.

Dock hands helpful and friendly tying up. Finger piers are narrow so minor challenge w/ boarding steps. Bathrooms were clean. Location is ideal- easy walk into old town and restaurants, and right behind The Pavilion, a concert venue that gets decent shows.

This was our second time this year that we stayed here. The staff was friendly and efficient. The docks were good. The showers were very clean and nice; a suggestion: add shelving for soap and shampoo in the shower.

Service was fabulous and the docks were in great condition. Thank you again to the team!

Very poor condition docks, was told by another boater to not tie to cleats as they aren’t secured (confirmed it) so had to tie to poles. Power is not adequate for 100 amp boat (smart y blew one leg on the power pedestal, was stiff and would not reset). Closes at 4pm so could not get fuel. No gate, well half a gate and not guard.

Marina is a nice one, not much in the store available, some sodas and candy, chips etc.
Pump out is fast so are fuel pumps when they are running properly (we had some problems fueling one time) management is attentive to the needs of the customers. Ducks living there are professional beggars so cute coming up to the boats for a handout for mama and babies.

As always, Kathryn is outstanding. She is the reason you want to visit Ocean Yacht marina. The showers are clean and private. Thanks for a great stay, Kathryn. There's still no ice after over a year. The ice vending machine just takes your money. You must call for a refund. Marina will not return to ice delivery service. I was told to walk a mile to the gas station. Walmart will deliver ice for a 10 dollar fee.

Katherine was great. Stayed to fuel us up and assisted us into our slip.
