We stayed at the Hyannis Port Yacht Club and was well protected, the only drawback is that the HPYC will not allow you to use their Launch service although it seemed to be idle for most of the day. The Barnstable Harbor Master was awesome and very accommodating with changing the moorings. Consider Lewis Bay Transient Moorings as Hyannis Yacht Club will provide the Launch Service and you are just a walk into town, alternatively for an extra 20 dollars there may be an available mooring at the Hyannis Yacht club where you can use the dingy dock.

Overall we had a great time. Docwa reservations were confirmed promptly. One SNAFU, the Docwa response indicated to hail on VHF 11 on arrival. No one monitors VHF 11. Call on Channel 9. We spent the first night on the outer mooring off the Kennedy compound. We were treated to some fine sailing exhibitions by the classic yachts that were moored there. The anchorage is well protected behind a significant sea wall, but you will roll as the Ferries go by. Second night we took a mooring in Lewis Bay. It has several advantages: the Ferries go slower so less rolling, and the HYC Launch will pick you up and bring you ashore at the club. It’s a short walk from there to town, that is full of great restuarants and shops. The Black Cat was phenomenal! We stopped in for drinks at the HYC bar and were warmly received. All in all a great place to duck in if you are transiting, as we were.

Town of Barnstable Harbormaster operated Transient Moorings located in HyannisPort.
Harbormaster staff is not on location 24/7. You can request assistance and we will respond if available VHF09 or 508-790-6273.

HyannisPort Moorings (HP) are located in HyannisPort mooring area; near Hyannis Port Yacht Club.
Private Launch may be available (HyannisPort Yacht Club) however, this launch is not associated with the Town. Fee for usage, guaranteed access and/or hours of operation not set by Town. Launch "Port watch" can be called on channel VHF 09.
Close visual proximity to Kennedy Compound in HyannisPort.
There is a beach to store small vessels in the mooring field (to right of HyannisPort dock) at called Eugenia Fortes Beach but only temporarily and requires individual to pull small vessel up near the sea grass.
We also have wet small vessel storage available at Bismore Park Marina or Gateway Marina. This requires navigating into Hyannis Inner Harbor which is miles from HyannisPort mooring area. Usage is determined by Dockmaster on duty. Please call to schedule small vessel storage in advance (Dockmaster phone number 508-294-1450). Access to main street Hyannis once at Marinas is within walking distance.
Access to main street from HyannisPort is about a 15 minute walk. Getting picked up by an Uber/Taxi at HyannisPort dock is probably easiest way to visit main street.
This mooring field is protected by a break water.
Access to someone to help you navigate to mooring or available on vhf cannot be guaranteed due to staffing hours.
