Nice marina, spotless restrooms. Staff and slip holders unbelievably friendly and helpful. Boathouse Restaurant short walk away with great food and awesome water view from their elevated deck. We stayed twice in a week, going to and traveling from Richmond.

We couldn’t have asked for a better marina. From the moment we docked, the hospitality was warm and genuine — the kind of place where people wave, smile, and offer to lend a hand just because that’s who they are.
The location is unbeatable. We’re just steps away from fantastic local restaurants, a charming theater, and a well-stocked grocery store — everything you need is within walking distance. Whether we were catching a live performance, exploring the pristine Riverwalk, grabbing fresh produce, or enjoying dinner on a patio, it always felt like we were part of the community.
Facilities are clean, secure, and thoughtfully maintained. Add in quiet nights, scenic views, and the ease of access right off the spectacular James River, and it’s clear this marina is a gem on the water.
We’ll absolutely be back — it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like staying a while!

The Hopewell City Marina is your gateway to adventure. Conveniently located on the Appomattox River, the Hopewell City Marina is only a mile away from the James River and offers some of the best fishing and recreational boating opportunities in the region. The marina has a four-lane boat ramp with floating docks, pump-out station, large paved parking lot, open and covered slip rentals, kayak launch, fishing area, and restroom and shower facilities.

Head into historic Downtown Hopewell to see a great show at the famous Beacon Theatre and visit one of our local artisan coffee shop, small businesses and restaurants and weekly farmers market https://hopewelldowntown.com/. Stretch your legs on our 1/2 mile long Appomattox Riverwalk. Visit the Historic Appomattox Manor a part of the NPS Petersburg Battlefield Park.
Slip Rentals The Hopewell City Marina offers slips for both daily and monthly rental. All slips have an electric meter connection, water supply, and secure entrance. Slips can accommodate boats over 50 feet in length and offer depths from 6 to 15 feet (tidal waters). Daily marina operations are managed by Department of Economic Development and Tourism (804) 541-6417. The boat ramp and slips at the marina are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
