The Island Boatyard & Marina

Beautiful marina, helpful staff. We have visited quite a few times, both daily and overnight, and have truly enjoyed our stays. It's easy to take a cab to the ferry over to Greenport, which we love. My only disappointment is that the restaurant and bar shut down before the Maritime Festival takes place in Greenport, but I'm pretty sure the rates stay the same. Likely a summer-staffing issue, though. Still a great marina.

We enjoyed our stay at the island boatyard in Marina. Megan, the dockmaster, was very helpful. We would definitely recommend staying there.

The guidance for getting in was top notch. The assistance for docking was professional and very helpful. All of the services at the marina were explained and invites to the restaurant were offered. We had a quiet and restful night. We’ll be back!

2nd Visit in 2 years and just as good as the 1st! Love this place and meeting other transient visitors during my stay feel the same way. It’s just a great place. Pool is awesome, outdoor bar as well and the restaurant (SALT) is so good! Megan dock master/manager is terrific and anything that may be needed is only a call to Megan and it gets done. Dock hands are fantastic and at the ready all the time. We will be back (again)!

Been coming here on and off for 30 years. The restaurant Salt has delicious food and drink, pool is uncrowded, clean and staffed by a wonderful lifeguard, bathrooms and showers are clean. Some of the younger dock crews should be a little better supervised especially on how to tie a boat to the pilings. Both stern lines were tied with loops that would only hold under constant pressure and these were not. As such when the lines were pulled they unwound from the pilings offering no holding power.

We had a great stay! The staff was super friendly and helpful with docking. The restaurant food was delicious and a great setting. It is a really fun, low key place to visit.

Beautiful place and very attentive dock hands

First class marina. Excellent restaurant. Meghan the manager was amazing. She drove me to town and picked me back up. She showed me unbelievable kindness. I met with the owner and his wife while watching the band play tunes at the Shipwreck bar, which was an old schooner turned into a bar I truly recommend stopping there next time you’re by Shelter Island.

This was our first stay and had an outstanding experience. The dock crew were great with a special shout out to Brendan for helping us initially into our slip. We definitely will be back. Best Annie and John H

ELECTRIC SUPPLY SYSTEM DAMAGED OUR EQUIPMENT The staff members were excellent! your “dockboys”(and girls) polite, friendly and were top notch. Everything was perfect until it was time to plug in. EVERY ELECTRICAL DEVICE WAS DAMAGED/BURNED. HALF OF THE OUTLETS: DEAD! I plugged into two separate 30a burn damaged outlets. one for air conditioners the other for the rest of the boat. running 1 a/c only at 12 amps ruined my $130 30amp cord set. THE 30 amp SUPPLY COULD NOT HANDLE a 12 amp DRAW. THE POWER INFRASTRUCTURE AT THIS MARINA IS GARBAGE AND DAMAGING TO YOUR VESSELS EQUIPMENT. Reports to the Manager, James regarding substandard infrastructure were shrugged off. Advising him of their need for the services of an electrician, he replied that they have an electrician. ISLAND BOATYARD NEEDS TO SECURE THE SERVICES OF A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN. A shuttle is offered. Told by 2 staff members that if no one was available to drive our fellow cruisers to church on sunday, taxi fare would be reimbursed. THIS POLICY WAS REFUSED with a denial that the reimbursement policy existed. BAD POWER BAD CUSTOMER POLICY ATTENTIVE MARINA STAFF BEAUTIFUL LOCATION ELECTRIC SUPPLY SYSTEM DAMAGED OUR EQUIPMENT
