Craig, the dockmaster, was very helpful and accommodating. Slips can be difficult with horizontal winds and current.

It was a nice stay. Close to everything. Great staff to work with as well. Lots of grassy area for the doggie too. Would stay there again.

Unfortunately this stay wasn’t like the ones I’ve had in the past. The area around the docks has changed and there were several questionable characters hanging around the dock office, using the bath facilities and living under the dock office. It’s sad. The docks are missing corner bumbers and had screws on the corners which caused some gel coat scratches due to the rough current. If going there dock at slack tide and you’ll be find but if it’s going to low tide the current is terrible and not much room to maneuver. Maybe when the condo builds are finished the police will patrol the area better.

Very easy to setup dates and pretty nice docks. They are floating docks made tying off super easy and in a pretty cool location also.

I will never stay anywhere else but here. Craig was above and beyond incredible when we arrived in 35 knot winds. Thank you for everything! I will be back here on my way back North!

Excellent stay. Clean secure facilities. Centrally located to amenities. Check tides and tidal currents. Docking anywhere on this coast can be challenging with perpendicular slips with the tidal currents. But the facilities are excellent. Only place I will stay when passing through.

The Dock master is pretty great here. His friendly demeanor, stellar service and accommodating last min situations is worth noting. The facilities are nice and clean and location to food and shopping is spot on. This is our second visit and there will be more in the future. Thanks Greg!

Tied up for 3 nights waiting out some weather. My slip was very good. Good protection except from the SW which was not a problem for my stay.
Please be aware there is nobody on site to help with docklines. It was not a problem for me. If you call ahead the harbormaster Craig would probably come help. He spoke to me on the phone and is very nice.
There was good 50 amp power. It has bathrooms and showers. I did not use them so I can't comment on condition.
easy walk to restaraunts, bars and entertainment. groceries about 1 mile away.

The floating docks are well built substantial many cleats good water and electricity. You must enter and leave at slack tide as the docks are perpendicular to what can be a very strong current. Bathrooms are adequate, shower rooms the same. Talk master was helpful when he was there. As we stayed over a holiday weekend, he wasn't there until the last day, although I suspect he would have come if we needed him for something as we were in touch with him.

About Morehead City Transient Docks
The Morehead City Docks located at 807 Shepard St., Morehead City, NC is a mid-Atlantic stopping point for those cruising north/south, fishing the Bogue / Core Sound and Outer Banks’ waters, or beginning the ocean voyage to the Caribbean and beyond. This sheltered, deep-water basin has 8-10 foot minimum depths at dockside, and easy access to the Intra-coastal Waterway and Beaufort Inlet. MCD offers 10 slips (26 ft. to 50. ft. long with widths to 20 ft.). Floating docks assure easy passenger access to docked vessels regardless of tide conditions. Amenities include: electric hookups and water. Conveniently located on the Morehead City waterfront and within walking distance to banks, shops, Post Office, churches, Webb Library and many fine restaurants.
Please note: We have a minimum dockage fee of $50.00 plus an additional $2.00 per foot for boats over 26 feet. Dockage fee includes water and electricity. All reservations are processed through Dockwa; Checks and Cash are NOT accepted.
