YS Moorings

Awesome. Great balls and great location. Will be back for sure. The staff is very good at communicating. The location locations are in great spots. Just hard to find at TIMES but if you want to stay on a morning Ball, they are awesome.

Avoid this company. The mooring they assigned was in water charted as 6 feet deep (we have a 7 ft draft) and surrounded by shoals and shallow water making maneuvering into position dangerous. I tried numerous times to call but no answer and their voicemail box was full. They don’t monitor VHF. I ultimately made other arrangements. I messaged them on Dockwa to ask for a refund but only got denial and argument back, insisting that the water was deeper than the charts and refusing to refund. Their argument for the depth of the water is that the harbor master had recently measured 15 feet. Well that’s to be expected at high tide in a 10 foot tidal range. Any safety conscious sailor would never venture into such an ambiguous situation.

Deceptive, I entered Rockport in Dockwa and this yard came up with an address in Rockport, but only moorings in Camden. The Rockport Harbor Master sorted it out. There are no Dockwa affiliates in Rockland. The Dockwa site, in this regard, borders on fraudulent. I have used Dockwa since its inception. It is a good service, but suggesting alternates to the requested harbor is not helpful. If one is on the water we can read a chart and know where we want to make a port call. We do not need to be “sold” into another port because it has Dockwa affiliates.
